Scale of emotional development–short: Reliability and validity in two samples of children with an intellectual disability

Intellectual disability (ID) is often accompanied by more significant delays in emotional development than cognitive development. Diagnostic assessment can provide insight into functioning. However, few standardized instruments are available. Examine the reliability and validity of Scale Emotional Development–Short (SED-S) children with ID. This methodological instrument validation study was conducted Netherlands Switzerland (N = 118) older 3 younger 18 years ID ranging from profound to mild. Measures included: demographic medical data, SED-S, Vineland. Coherence SED-S were determined using Cronbach’s alpha, examined Goodman Kruskal's ?, Kruskal-Wallis H, Mann-Whitney U tests. The high, convergent good, divergent indicated relation autism spectrum disorder (ASD), visual and/or auditory impairment, adaptive Research needed better understand implications ASD impairment on their association (normal) intelligence. Children may also benefit (more) detailed guidelines for imbalanced profiles SED-S.
